Glutathione Ultra contains a cutting-edge form of glutathione, S-acetyl glutathione, developed to overcome the poor effectiveness of reduced glutathione (GSH) supplementation.*
Glutathione is the backbone of the cellular antioxidant system and critical for natural detoxification processes, immunity, and cellular vitality.*
Glutathione is found in all parts of your body, especially the liver, nervous system, immune system as well as white and red blood cells. Your skin, thyroid, adrenal glands, muscles, respiratory tract, eyes, and all tissues use glutathione every day.*
Glutathione levels in the body can be reduced by many factors including environmental toxins, stress, medications, pesticides, heavy metals, and poor nutrition. Glutathione production also declines with age and is lower in vegetarians and those with digestive concerns. Maintaining glutathione stores is essential for health and vitality.*
Emothion® S-Acetyl-Glutathione
Traditional oral reduced glutathione (GSH) has poor absorption and is broken down in the digestive tract before it can be used. However, recent advances in nutritional science have found ways to mitigate these concerns. An advanced form of glutathione, Emothion® S-acetyl-glutathione by-passes the difficulties of traditional oral glutathione and allows for rapid absorption and is able to get into tissues.*
This highly absorbable acetylated glutathione has enhanced bioavailability and increased stability. It is lactose-free, gluten-free, non-GMO, kosher, and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Liver and Immune Function
The highest amounts of glutathione are found in the liver, followed by the immune system, and other tissues. Immune system regulation, defense and modulation and many other roles are directly impacted by glutathione.*
The liver depends upon glutathione to do its job in protection and detoxification of environmental toxins and endocrine disrupting compounds like pesticides, herbicides, plastics, heavy metals, medications, and internal metabolic waste. Glutathione is essential for healthy liver and immune system function.*
Antioxidant Support for Eyes
The lens and retina of your eyes are particularly sensitive to oxidative stress and require several nutrients for health. Cellular studies show that glutathione protects the lens and retinal cells and augments the antioxidant effects of vitamin C in ocular tissues. Glutathione helps protects the eyes and skin.*
Thyroid and Adrenals
Your thyroid gland uses glutathione and selenium to protect itself against toxins. Glutathione and selenium also work together for management of iodine within the thyroid gland.*
In the adrenal glands, depleted levels of glutathione and other antioxidants have been found to cause these tissues to age faster. This impairs hormone production and your stress tolerance.*
Sports Performance and Muscle Recovery
Sports performance, endurance, and recovery are affected by the glutathione levels within your muscles. Studies showed improved antioxidant levels within muscles in athletes who used 450 - 1,000 mg of glutathione per day for 3 weeks.*
Synergistic Nutrients
Glutathione is made up of three amino acids – cysteine, glutamine, and glycine. For many years, we have recommended taking n-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) to help your body make glutathione. NAC is in our Daily Protector Eye & Immune and Daily Detoxify supplements. Cysteine is in Activator Plus and Daily Protein.*
Several other nutrients help recycle or support glutathione production. These include vitamin B12, folate, vitamin B2 (riboflavin), betaine, magnesium, selenium, lipoic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acids, curcumin, milk thistle, green tea, whey protein, and other antioxidants. Glutathione also helps recycle these nutrients as they work synergistically together.*
Glutathione & Diet
Vegan and vegetarian diets, low protein diets, keto-diets, or extended fasting may contribute to inadequate levels of one or more of the three amino acids that make up glutathione. Individuals with poor protein digestion from lack of stomach acid or insufficient pancreatic enzymes may experience low glutathione levels.
Dietary glutathione intake from food is considered minimal due to diminished bioavailability and absorption. However, glutathione is made by the liver with the amino acids cysteine, glycine, and glutamine and other vitamins mentioned above.
Glutathione Dosage
Taking 1-3 capsules per day of Glutathione Ultra is helpful daily support for your antioxidant system. Each capsule contains 100mg of S-acetyl glutathione, a highly absorbable form of glutathione. More may be taken as desired.*
